Position: Program Assistant

We are looking for a part-time Program Assistant for After School Program and Recycling Program for a minimum of 28 hours a week. 20 hours will be devoted to the After School Program in the afternoons between 2 – 6 PM, and 8 flexible hours will be devoted to the Recycling Program. There will also be a potential for more hours as the number of responsibilities may possibly increase.

After School Program Duties include but not limited to:

  • Provide homework assistance and tutoring to students 1st to 8th grades
  • Set up facility, snacks, and required paperwork for programming
  • Maintain applications and student records in an orderly fashion
  • Assist with recruiting/advertising for more students at community events when necessary (may be during hours outside of regular schedule)
  • Prepare and Lead the STEM program once a week in exploration of different STEM field careers and STEM projects
  • Supervise students during play time
  • Chaperoning in occasional local field trips
  • Communicate with program staff about students’ academic and behavioral needs and their progress
  • Manage schedules of interns and volunteers that help with the program
  • Oversee interns and volunteers and provide updates to managers about their activities and responsibilities
  • Develop good rapport with parents while updating parents with relevant information about events or updates on their children
  • Refer students needing counseling to community partner (while maintaining privacy of students with counseling needs)

Recycling Program Duties include but not limited to:

  • Report to the Recycling Program Manager
  • Conduct outreach to Visitacion Valley and surrounding neighborhoods
  • Work with the Recycling Program Manager and Volunteer to recruit and educate 75 unduplicated residents on Zero Waste policies
  • Administer a pre- and post-test survey to 12 participants of the program
  • Monitor participants’ bins randomly once a month per resident and rate the number of comingled materials on the comingling rating scale
  • Inform participants on the quality of their bins and how to improve their comingling for next month
  • Maintain and update the online database for residents outreached, residents educated, survey results, and comingling results each month
  • Oversee the recycling program’s paid volunteer who will assist the Program Assistant in outreach and bin checks
  • Troubleshoot with the Program Manager about any resident questions or problems that come up

Minimum qualifications:

    • Minimum Associate’s Degree or equivalent required
    • Bilingual Chinese/English required
    • Ability to work independently
    • Is organized and has excellent communication and negotiating skills
    • Experience volunteering or work at a community-based organization preferred but not required
    • Applicants who live in Visitacion Valley/Little Hollywood preferred but not required
    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and basic Google functions (gmail, Google Docs, Google Excel) required
    • Proficiency in writing and math skills required
    • Some leadership experience are a plus but not required

Pay rate is at $16 per hour but is subject to increasing in the future. Position is part-time with a possibility of becoming full-time in the future.

Position: Executive Director

Reporting to APACC Board of Directors, the APACC Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission.


  • Ensure ongoing programmic excellence and evaluation
  • Consistent quality of finance and administration
  • Fundraising
  • Actively recruit, engage, and energize APACC volunteers, board, partner organizations, and funders
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors
  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain APACC high-performance staff to regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and constituents


  • At least a bachelor’s degree on business, management & planning, or other related areas
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
